We originally planned to go to a beach town (either Devon or Kent) but since the weather forecast wasn’t very good we left the booking till the very end. Searching through Airbnb listings we found a quaint little log cabin in the heart of Hampshire (just over an hour’s drive from home). We were looking forward to a relaxing couple of days away from home and we were not disappointed!
Our hosts Janie and Paul lived just next door in the main house and we had exclusive use of the two bedroom log cabin which was very tastefully furnished with a beautiful artistic touch. Paul is an artist and of course his paintings were displayed all over the cabin! We had use of the one acre garden plot which had a yurt, pond and a fire pit if we choose to do a campfire one night. The icing on the cake was ‘Lula’ – a super friendly dog that the kids absolutely adored.
There are some lovely walking paths around the house. The nearest villages are Ropley and Alresford both just a couple of minutes away where we popped in for meals (I’ll write about the restaurants on separate posts).
The evening before we were leaving Paul set up a campfire for us which was amazing!
Our hosts were flexible with both check in and check out times which also made a big difference as we could plan the break around our schedules. So to summarise we had a lovely, relaxed long weekend to mark the end of the half term. We’re driving back as I type this post…and we do hope to come back!!!!
