Lunch at Bombay Central – Harrow, London

Posted on June 23, 2018 by Swati Leave a Comment on Lunch at Bombay Central – Harrow, London

Our second visit to Bombay Central at Harrow Weald. Our first visit was a couple of months back when we had gone with some friends for dinner. We quite enjoyed the meal then and were looking forward to coming back. Though this time I must admit I was a bit disappointed.

As you enter the restaurant you get a very Bombay (or Mumbai if you prefer!) feel with the auto rickshaws parked outside….which my kids just love! The restaurant is called Bombay Central and there are no rickshaws in Bombay Central (an area and train station in Mumbai) but only beyond Bandra (another area and train station in Mumbai)! Well thats just me being very picky!!! But they do add a nice ‘Bombay’ touch to the venue! I should remember to take my kids for an auto rickshaw ride the next time we go to Mumbai!!

Kids were very hungry so we ordered two dishes from the ‘Bachcha Menu’ – Malai Paneer and the Malai Chicken and a couple of street food items from the Cafe Menu for us – Pav Bhaji, Bombay Sandwich and Pani Puri. We thought we would order some mains later if we were still hungry!

The kids gobbled up the Malai Chicken right away they were so hungry! I didn’t get to taste it but they said it was lovely so I’ll take their word for it! I had a bit of the Malai Paneer….I’m a big paneer fan and usually love paneer in most forms but this one I found very bland and to be honest it didn’t look very appetising too! The panner had melted cheese on top which I found a bit odd!!!

The Pani Puri was nice….its one of my favourite Bombay street foods and I could have had lots more of that! The Bombay sandwich was a let down! It looked very boring and tasted really bland! I had to have it with loads of chutney to give it any flavour! And we finally dug into the Pav Bhaji….which I was really looking forward to….I’ve had some amazing Pav Bhaji’s growing up in Bombay so my standards are quite high!! This one was disappointing for me! I wouldn’t order it again. We were quite full at the end of it although we didn’t feel like we really enjoyed the meal….if we do come again next time we would probably just skip the street food and order the main course and see how that goes!

I’ve been looking for an amazing Indian restaurant for a while now…..still looking for my go to place when I’m craving good Indian food! And my search continues….
