I have been meaning to go to this restaurant for a while and finally got around to going with some friends who’ve been here a few times! A lot of people had recommended this place (raved about it actually!) so my expectations were quite high!! We went on a Friday evening so it was very crowded…which was expected! I have tried to do a last minute booking several times but have never succeeded so this time we had booked well in advance!
The overall ambiance was nice and the food was good too though because of everything that I had heard I expected much better! My friends are vegetarian so we ordered mainly vegetarian food (mix of veg starters and couple of dishes from the veg main course with some naan breads) and a chicken starter for the kids (chicken tikka trio).
Our friends are Indians and sharing food when you go out for a meal is quite common in India so you would typically order an assortment of dishes which are kept at the centre of the table and everyone just serves themselves what they want. Almost like a mini buffet at your table!
The Papri Chaat from the Appetizers was lovely! They made an error and gave us a lamb curry dish for the main course instead of the vegetarian ‘bhindi masala’ we ordered! If you are a hard core vegetarian (like some people I know) that would not have gone down too well. They were of course very apologetic and replaced it straight away.
I saw pani puri on the menu so ordered that as an afterthought as I love Pani Puri! I think they forgot about it and so it came quite late (almost at the end of the meal) but it was really nice! I do miss Mumbai for some of this yummy chat stuff!!
Overall we had a lovely time – and except for a few dishes which were really nice I thought the food was average…so my search for an amazing Indian restaurant still continues!!
