Just got back after spending a couple of blissful days in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside! Just under two hours from home the Cotswolds is a magical place to relax, unwind and recharge! We’ve been several times to Bourton on the Water which is amazing! I haven’t reviewed it here…as we haven’t been there since I started writing this blog!
This was a very last minute trip with some family friends – looked on airbnb and we didn’t have too many options for the dates we wanted….which was not surprising as it was the last weekend before schools start! We eventually booked a lovely countryside cottage in a little village called Weston Subedge in Chipping Camden. We didn’t have any agenda on this trip as everyone was just keen to get away from home and relax.

We had a couple of meals at our cottage but did eat out a few times…
The Village Bar at Weston Subedge is not any old village hall bar but a really good one! We popped in there for lunch and had a lovely time enjoying some amazing food and drinks. Here’s a post about this bar.
One of the afternoons we also popped into the local pub – The Sea Grave Arms which is a charming pub with loads of character. They have eight ensuite rooms and offer a bed and breakfast service. They also have several dog friendly rooms! For those looking for a home away from home they have a self catering cottage which sleeps upto 4 guests!
We were there in the afternoon when the kitchen was closed so we enjoyed the beautiful sunny day sitting outside and having a few drinks!
With the little kids dinners were easier at home so we cooked a couple of meals. We did all our grocery shopping from the Co-op at Chipping Camden which was a five minute drive. Its a small store but has pretty much everything you would need for your holiday. Its open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm which was quite useful.
Overall we had a lovely time, the kids enjoyed the mini break and they are now all geared up for a new school year!! Bring it on!!!
