Geneva – beautiful, buzzing & very cosmopolitan! We didn’t stay in Geneva but just did a day trip from Lausanne so didn’t do enough justice to this vibrant city!
Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland (after Zurich) and the most populous city of the Romandy (the French speaking area of Switzerland). Geneva is often perceived as the Swiss capital….it isn’t, and its not even Zurich….its Bern!!
Neel was very keen to take Si to the CERN – the world’s largest particle physics research centre. CERN wasn’t on the top of my list but after going there I don’t regret it…it’s extremely educational and entertaining! A must visit if you are in Geneva! The place does need a cafe though – and there’s nothing around in the area either….so be prepared!!
In the evening we went to the famous ‘Bains des Paquis’. I had read so many amazing reviews of this, that we just had to visit the place and we were not disappointed. The views over the lake and the water jet are just magnificent. And the public swimming pools were a lot of fun! Al fresco dining on the lake with great food from the ‘Buvette‘ was the icing on the cake! More about this on a subsequent post.
There was a lot more we would have liked to do in Geneva but we just had one day so lots on the agenda for our next trip.
