Had read lots of reviews of Giggling Squid so wanted to check it out for myself. Its Thai and that’s one of my favourite cuisines. Booked in for a late Sunday lunch as we had lots of errands to do in the morning!
Its a chain of restaurants across the country started by a husband and wife team. They started from their tiny cottage in Brighton (which is now their Brighton restaurant) and then it grew from there! Oh I love these stories!!!
We booked at the Beaconsfield one as thats the closest for us. The place is very stylish, and the decor excellent. Its also very spacious and the tables are well spread to ensure that everyone has privacy!
We ordered the tapas set menu for both of us (which is a set of 4 tapas dishes) and Little Tapas for the kids (which is a choice of two items). Portion sizes and prices were good. And although the food was good I felt that it needed a lot more oomph! The flavours lacked depth. Overall I felt it was a bit of style over substance. I don’t mind going back though and trying out some other items from the menu or maybe I’ll try out a different franchise to see if that makes a difference.
